No matter how much money some of the local TV stations invest in their weather departments, even some of the best meteorologists will tell you their forecasts are NOT a sure thing.
Just ask Oklahoma Mesonet Climatologist Gary McManus who wrote in his Wednesday Mesonet column that snow is not a guarantee this week in the state. Could be freezing rain. Maybe sleet. Who knows?
“Not that this is much different than any wintry weather forecast…they’re infamously difficult to pin down, given the intricate details that allow snow to actually form, then fall undisturbed (as in unmelted) through the column of the atmosphere above you, and hit you in the face. So many things can screw this recipe up, especially that vertical profile of temperature in the atmosphere, as we’ve shown before,” he stated.
Still…there is a good prospect.
