As snow and ice move across parts of Texas, there remains a fear that the state’s electric grid, ERCOT, won’t be able to meet the demands for electricity to heat homes and businesses. Customers wonder if the state could be facing a repeat of what happened in 2021.
But a spokesman for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas has assured customers there will be plenty of power.
“What we’re expecting this week is expecting reliability. We’ve been preparing for the last week knowing this weather was coming in, coordinating with a lot of the market participants, the generators, the transmission companies, the Public Utility Commission,” the spokesman told KXAN TV News.
