Trucking industry awaits possible rules changes in a Trump administration

The nation’s trucking industry could see changes with the return of Donald Trump to the White House.

Which changes—-industry observers aren’t sure. Some might involve a rollback of the emissions standards created under the Biden administration. From corporate leaders to the men and women behind the wheels of big trucks up and down I-40 and I-35 in Oklahoma, they’re eager to know how changes at the White House might affect them.

Some wonder if one of the rollbacks will be a rule from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to restrict the speed of trucks nationwide. It was scheduled to begin in May.

Sean Duffy, the new Transportation Secretary has his hands full right now with the Washington, D.C. airliner crash into the Potomac River that claimed the lives of 64 people on an American Airlines commuter jet and three onboard an Army Blackhawk helicopter. Any possible changes he might make regarding big trucks could be delayed.
