Two cities in Oklahoma are set to be the recipients of nearly $33 million in government funds for water improvement projects under the Water Resources Development Act of 2024 passed last week by the U.S. House of Representatives.
Woodward and Stillwater were among the community projects that fell under the Act.
Oklahoma Congressman Frank Lucas was among those who supported the Act.
“Pieces of legislation like this remind us why we are here: to better our communities back home,” said Congressman Frank Lucas. “That’s why I am so glad to see this bill pass. It directs much needed funds to Oklahoma’s water infrastructure and ensures our hometowns are adequately equipped with the proper resources.”
The measure passed the House 399 to 18 and is currently awaiting final approval in the Senate before it heads to the President’s desk. It authorized the following funds for Oklahoma’s Third District:
- Woodward, OK – $3,000,000 to rehabilitate water storage facilities in need of repair.
- Stillwater, OK – $30,000,000 for water infrastructure, including related environmental infrastructure and water storage, transmission, treatment, and distribution, in the city of Stillwater, Oklahoma.
