Sen. Lankford is a big ally of Trump’s federal cost-cutting plan

Oklahoma U.S. Sen. James Lankford, the creator of his Federal Fumbles reports listing frivolous spending by the federal government is a big fan of President-elect Donald Trump’s proposed Department of Government Efficiency.

As a co-founder of the Senate DOGE Caucus, he will meet this week with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to discuss their plans on trimming government spending.

Interviewed this week on Newsmax’s Wake Up America, he was asked where the federal government needs to make spending cuts.

His answer?

“Well, start anywhere and start cutting there—it’s not challenging. It is a target rich environment when you stand in the middle of government and look for areas of inefficiency.”

He went on to declare it a “good day” to go after waste.

So I would tell you in every single agency, there are areas where we can be more efficient but there are big ones when you deal with things like the grants,” continued the Senator.

“My taxpayers in Oklahoma were paying for drag shows in Ecuador, they were paying to study the secret language of butchers in Paris, they were paying for Napa Valley—one of the riches areas in all of America—paying for them to get a new wine walking trail. This is the kind of waste that just drives people crazy in Oklahoma and all across the country.”

He said he wants money to go to national security, defending the border, to veterans, transportation and not on wasteful government spending.
