Rig activity is steady in Oklahoma and the US

 

For another consecutive week, the number of active oil and gas rigs in Oklahoma held steady, based on the latest rig report released by Baker Hughes Co.

The report listed Oklahoma with 43 rigs, same as the previous week and only one less than a year ago when the count was 44. The US count was also unchanged from last week’s Baker Hughes Co. rig report which showed a couont of 589 active rigs.

This week’s report showed the number of oil rigs unchanged with 483 and the number of gas rigs also unchanged at 102. The miscellaneous count remained at four. The offshore rig count stayed at 14 rigs.

The US rig count is still 33 fewer than a year ago when the count was 622. In the past year, the oil rig count fell by 17 and the gas rig count dropped by 18 The miscellaneous count increased by two.

Oklahoma’s count of 43 rigs compared to Texas where the count slipped one to 284 rigs and to New Mexico where the total rermained at 103. North Dakota gained a rig for a total of 36 and Louisiana remained at 31 rigs.

Colorado continued with 10 rigs. The Red Top Rig Report in Kansas showed the state added one to reach a total of 25 rigs. Ohio remained at 9 and Pennsylvania was unchanged at 15 rigs. Utah’s count of 12 was the same as a week ago. West Virginia saw no change with 10 rigs and Wyoming remained at 18 rigs.
