Already one of the largest public core depositories in the U.S., the Kansas Geological Society’s drill core library is about to get bigger.

Construction to expand the library, which already has more than 73,000 boxes of rock, is set to begin early in 2025 at the University of Kansas campus in Lawrence, Kansas. Officials say the library is at 80% capacity reported the Kansas Reflector.
