Finally—someone’s drilling in the Mississippian

After a few months of no reported drilling activity, based on Baker Hughes Co. rig reports, someone is drilling in the Mississippian play.

The latest Baker Hughes rig count showed one rig active in the play but there is no designation whether it is northern Oklahoma or Kansas.

Few changes were recorded in the nation’s other plays, including the Permian Basin where the count was unchanged at 304 rigs.  The Williston in North Dakota remained at 36 rigs and the Eagle Ford of South Texas remained at a count of 46 rigs.

The Ardmore Woodford continued another week with no reported rig activity and the Arkoma Woodford was unchanged with one rig, according to Baker Hughes. The Cana Woodford saw no change with 20 active rigs. The Barnett in north Texas stayed at 2 rigs and the D-J Basin in Colorado remained at 7.

The Granite Wash continued with 8 rigs and the Haynesville in east Texas and Louisiana was unchanged with 31 rigs. The Marcellus count fell one bo 24. The Utica play added a rig to reach 10.
