The Southwest Power Pool recently received approval from federal regulators to make changes in a joint operating agreement with another grid to provide another 29 GW of new electrical power along their northern territory.
The SPP controls electrical power in Oklahoma and 13 other states that comprise its grid.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission voted in support of the SPP’s agreement with the Midcontinent Independent System Operator to change tariffs to move forward with nearly $2 billion in new major transmission lines. The SPP’s board will vote in several weeks on the projects that include five major transmission lines, according to Utility Dive.
