Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co. is faced with the task of rebuilding power lines and replacing power poles downed in the tornado of a week ago in eastern Oklahoma County.
While the last of the customers who lost power in the tornado were expected to have it restored on Friday, the utility is dealing with replacement of the hundreeds of poles and transformers destroyed.
A release from OG&E on Friday indicated the loss included 406 distribution poles, 91 transmission poles, 179 transformers and more than 1,000 crossarms used in the rebuild.
The utility said more than 80,000 customers have had their electrical power restored and 98% of them were restored within the first 48 hours.
- The reliability investments OG&E has made in the grid and automated technology are eliminating outages and reducing outage time.
OG&E is completing restoration to customers affected by severe storms on Sunday and Monday of this week. Some customers may not safely be able to receive power, and we will continue to partner with cities and towns to bring the lights back on for these customers as safely and quickly as possible.
After the Storm
- Following storms, OG&E will bring tree and brush debris to the curb; however, customers are responsible for removing that debris. City and county resources for debris removal may be available and will vary by community. Customers should check with local officials for specific debris removal plans.
