New Mexico electric cooperatives under renewable energy mandates

Rural electric cooperatives in New Mexico face some tough renewable energy requirements put upon them by the state’s Public Service Commission.

By next year, they will be required to have at least 40% renewable energy and by 2030, the co-ops will be forced to have 50% renewables. It is even higher by 2050, according to the Albuquerque Journal.
