Few rig count changes in nation’s shale plays

 

 

The Permian Basin remained nearly unchanged over the past week in its oil and gas drilling activity. The weekly rig count released by Baker Hughes Co. showed the Basin experienced a decline of only one rig, leaving 303 still drilling in West Texas and Southeast New Mexico.

It was the most active of the shale basins in the country. The count in the Williston grew one to 35 rigs while the Eagle Ford of South Texas experienced a decline of one, leaving 48 oil and gas rigs still active.

The Haynesville remained at 33 rigs while the Marcellus count fell one to 23.

The Ardmore Woodford was unchanged with 2 rigs and the Arkoma Woodford stayed at the same count of 2. The Cana Woodford continued with a count of 20.

The Barnett added another rig to reach 2. The DJ Basin stayed at 8 and the Granite Wash in western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle saw no change with a count of 4 rigs.

The Mississippian continued with no reported rig activity, based on the Baker Hughes rig count. The Utica play remained at 10 rigs.
