Energy Secretary nominee says energy crisis is really “energy poverty”

As his detractors call him a “climate-denying Big Oil executive,” Chris Wright, President-elect Donald Trump’s Energy Secretary nominee says the world’s energy crisis is really one of “energy poverty.”

The Denver, Colorado leader of one of the country’s biggest fracking companies contends the world is one divided between the haves and have-nots when it comes to energy. He contends the U.S. should focus on making sure there is a wide variety of cheap, abundant and sustainable energy sources.

The Denver Gazette reports Wright argues that this approach is the antidote to what he described as an “energy crisis,” in which a minority of the world’s population has access to abundant energy, while the rest lives in “energy poverty.”
