Not only did OGE and PSO sent line crews to Florida to help as millions are without power following the hit by Hurricane Milton, but others from Oklahoma are there to help.
The Oklahoma National Guard sent a CH-47 helicopter and ten personnel, including two rescue swimmers and one Helicopter Search & Rescue Technician.
As OK Energy Today reported earlier, the State Department of Health dispatched a ten person team to help with public health needs in North Carolina where a large contingent of FEMA workers remain, rather than going to Florida.
Oklahoma had already sent three swift water rescue teams to Florida ahead of the arrival of Hurricane Milton.
“Oklahomans know what it means to stand beside our fellow Americans in times of need. We will continue to serve our neighbors with strength and compassion, because that’s who we are,” said Gov. Kevin Stitt in a statement.
“Oklahoma has sent a helicopter rescue unit, water rescue teams, emergency operations personnel, urban search and rescue units, and a public health team to help in anyway they can. My prayers are with the Americans who continue to recover from Helene, as well as our friends on Florida’s Gulf coast as they brace for Hurricane Milton.”
