Eleven years after more than 200 gallons of crude oil leaked out of what was called the Pegasus Pipeline in Mayflower, Arkansas and forced the evacuation of nearly two dozen homes, a settlement in the case has been approved by a federal judge.
Chief Judge Kristine G. Baker said she found the agreement to be “fair, reasonable, and adequate, and consistent with the Oil Pollution Act” and ruled there was no need for a hearing to take testimony.
Under the agreement, Mobil Pipe Line Co. of Texas will make a nearly $1.8 million payment for damages to natural resources during the March 29, 2013 pipeline break.
