Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Todd Hiett wants more time from the State Supreme Court to respond to the lawsuit filed against him by three legislators.
He filed a motion on Friday requesting a 14-day extension of time after the Court responded to the lawsuit by Reps. Tom Gann of Inola, Kevin West of Moore and Rick West of Heavener and ordered Hiett to respond by Sept. 27.
In his motion, which was very similar to one requested and approved by Commissioner Bob Anthony when he was sued by Hiett, the former Commission Chairman explained he had yet to receive any indication that the Attorney General will represent him in the matter. He asked the Court to extend his response date to Oct. 11.
The legislators filed for a writ of prohibition against Commissioner Hiett over his continued voting in cases involving ONG, OGE and PSO after allegations were raised about public drunkenness and groping of a man at a bar during a national convention. The trio of legislators alleged the “sexual assault” involved a man who represents a company that goes before the Corporation Commission.
