Stillwater city leaders drawing up use for possible $30 million in water development funding

The city of Stillwater could be in line for $30 million in water improvements if Congress passes a Water Resources Development bill and if President Biden signs it into law.

City leaders already have some projects that could be targeted with the possible funding.

The U.S. House recently approved the Act which includes millions for Stillwater and the city of Woodward. Congressman Frank Lucas said with the House vote of 359-13, it’s now in the hands of the U.S. Senate.

“At a time when our political system appears to be in a constant state of disorder, pieces of legislation like this remind us why we are here: to help our communities back home,” Lucas said. “The overwhelming passage of the Water Resources Development Act directs much needed funds to Oklahoma’s water infrastructure and ensures our hometowns are adequately equipped with the proper resources.”
