The question some in the energy industry asked this week—is Vice President Kamala Harris lying when she claims she no longer supports a ban on fracking in the oil and gas industry?

After being a major proponent of a fracking ban five years ago when she dropped out of the race for President, Harris flipped her stance last week and a campaign spokesman said she no longer advocated such a ban.

Larry Behrens, the communications director for an energy truth advocacy organization, Power the Future, wrote an opinion piece this week in The Hill.

He opened his article this way:

“Here is the simple question: Was Vice President Kamala Harris lying about her position on fracking in 2019, or is her campaign lying now?

Every American deserves to know the answer. So far, a sympathetic media supposedly charged with holding truth to power is allowing her to stay silent.

By now, everyone knows that while running for president five years ago, Harris was adamant about fracking. “There’s no question I’m in favor of banning fracking,” Harris told a climate crowd during the CNN town hall.”
