OGE holds linemen’s Expo and competition

Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company (OG&E) line crews competed in the 33rd annual Linemen’s Expo, an annual company event in which line crews compete in timed competition and families and co-workers show their appreciation for the crews who help deliver reliable and dependable electric service to Oklahomans and Arkansans regardless of the weather.

The expo opened with a sunrise American flag raising, followed by a series of competitions where line crews demonstrated their technical prowess and commitment to safety in timed events like speed pole climb, transformer change out, simulated rescue of an injured worker, and more.

The linemen’s prioritization of safety, embodiment of teamwork, and extensive industry knowledge during the competition were on full display, demonstrating the national reputation that OG&E linemen are among the best in the business.

“Congratulations to our winners and all the competitors for another terrific Linemen’s Expo,” said Andrea Dennis, OG&E vice president of transmission and distribution operations. “The Linemen’s Expo brings our crews together in friendly competition to sharpen each other’s skills. It also gives our families and colleagues the chance to see the amazing skills and commitment that make OG&E crews some of the best around.”

Line crew families and hundreds of OG&E employees attended and volunteered at the event, which also featured additional activities like a 5k run, a classic car show, grill master contest, and kids’ activities.

The top three overall winners in the Team Competition, Over 45, and Apprentice categories will represent OG&E at the International Lineman’s Rodeo and Expo competition in October in Overland Park, Kansas.
