Just as students returned to the classrooms across Oklahoma, at least 13 school districts got a helping hand from Oklahoma Gas and Electric in the form of money and school supplies.
The utility handed out more than $30,000 total to help the students and teachers gear up for another school year. Each of the districts was handed a check for $2,500. In addition to the financial support from OGE Energy Corp. Foundation, OG&E employees collected and delivered school supply donations to the districts to ensure students have the tools they need to be successful.
OGE said the back-to-school initiative underscored OG&E’s commitment to the communities it serves and its dedication to supporting the power of education.
“By investing in education, we invest in the future,” said Kelli Hayward Walsh, OG&E Manager of Community Outreach & Engagement. “These funds will equip students with essential supplies, fostering an environment where learning thrives.”
OG&E representatives presented the checks to the school districts while delivering the supplies to teachers, celebrating the partnerships between OG&E and the communities it serves. Donations were delivered to schools in the following districts:
- Bristow
- Coyle
- Fargo-Gage
- Glencoe
- Fort Smith, Arkansas
- Healdton
- Madill
- Pioneer-Pleasant Vale
- Poteau
- Ripley
- Shawnee
- Stratford
- Warner
“I know many of your employees collected school supplies on their own; we very much appreciate OG&E going above and beyond to provide for our students,” said Scott Kempenich, Superintendent of Poteau Public Schools. “Your donations will make life a little easier for many students, their families and teachers.”
OG&E is devoted to supporting a bright future for its communities and to energizing future generations through investments and partnerships through the OGE Energy Corp. Foundation. The foundation offers scholarships, classroom projects, student safety programs, and teacher support resources to teachers and students throughout the company’s service area.
