The latest Baker Hughes Co. rig count showed a gain of two rigs in Oklahoma while the nation’s count fell by two to 586 rigs.
Oklahoma gained two rigs for a total of 37, according to the Baker Hughes rig count released on Friday. It compared to 38 rigs reported one year earlier.
The U.S. decline include a loss of two oil rigs, leaving 483 active in the oil patch while the number of gas rigs increased one to 98 total.
Compared to a year ago, the nation’s rig count is 56 down from the 642 and the decline included a loss of 37 oil rigs and 19 gas rigs. The latest offshore count stands at 19.
Texas saw an overall decline of three rigs to 273 while North Dakota was unchanged at 35 and New Mexico remained at 107 rigs. Louisiana saw no change from its count of 38. Colorado stayed at 14 rigs. The Red Top Rig Report showed Kansas dropped one to 29 rigs.
Ohio’s count fell one to 9 rigs and Pennsylvania was unchanged at 21. Utah continued with 13 rigs and West Virginia stayed at 5 rigs. Wyoming remained at 14 rigs.
The Permian Basin, which stretches from west Texas into southeast New Mexico fell one rig to 303. The Eagle Ford of south Texas declined by two rigs to 48. The Haynesville stayed at 32 and the Marcellus continued with 25 rigs. The Willison was unchanged with a count of 36 rigs.
The Ardmore Woodford added a rig to reach a total of 2 while the Arkoma Woodford was unchanged with a count of 2 rigs. The Cana Woodford count fell one to 16 rigs and the Barnett continued for another week with no reported drilling activity, according to Baker Hughes.
The D-J Basin remained at 10 rigs and the Granite Wash continued with 5 rigs. The Mississippian popped out of its slump and added 2 rigs to finally give the play some drilling activity. The Utica count dropped one to 9 rigs.
