As crude oil prices rose more than 1% in Thursday’s trading, Oklahoma energy stocks endured moderate losses of about the same percent or less.
What prompted the oil price surge was growing hopes that the Feds might cut the U.S. interest rate in a few weeks.
West Texas Intermediate crude went up $1.08 or 1.5% to $73.01 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent crude, the global standard, rose $1.17 or 1.54% and closed at $77.22 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Other energy stocks were mixed, according to the Texas Energy Report.
