The state of Texas has gone to court against General Motors claiming the automaker installed technology on millions of vehicles to collect secret data about drivers.
The lawsuit contends GM then sold the data to insurers and other companies and the drivers were unaware of it. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed the suit this week following an investigation into several automakers.
Reuters reported the GM data was used to create “Driving Scores” of more than 1.8 million Texas drivers who had bad driving habits of speeding, not using seatbelts and driving late at night.
