Thursday’s crude oil trading saw prices fall more than $1 a barrel and according to analysts appeared to be mostly unaffected by this week’s bombing death of a Hamas leader in Iran.
Reuters reported investors instead turned their attention to concerns about worldwide oil demand. It came a day after benchmarks rose 4% in resonse to the death of the Hamas leader.
The US standard, West Texas Intermediate crude dropped $1.60 or 2.1% and settled at $76.31 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude finished down $1.32 or 1.6% and closed at $79.52 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
