KC homebuilders complain of new environmental requirements

Homebuilders in Kansas City are complaining that new energy rules have not only kept the housing market tight but also created roadblocks for more affordable housing.

The rules were implemented last year by the Kansas City Council and required the installation of certain kinds of windows, insulation thickness and more efficient heating and air conditioning systems.

The Beacon reported that homebuilders want more flexibility despite opposition from environmentalist.
