In the far eastern city of Pocola, a plan is underway for the development of a fly-in residential community.

According to the  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and Arkansas Business, it is the goal of the developers of The Patriot Airpark to attract pilots from nearby Fort Smith—pilots who might be interested in living where they could fly in and land and pull up in front of their home.

The developer, CEO Alex Cardenas, has plans to build 216 townhomes on the 400-acre property and of course, it will include hangars and runways for the fly-in residents. Cardenas also wants to build and develop restaurants, shopping centers and a community center in the Le Flore County project.

The Federal Aviation Administration has already approved the airpark which will be the second civilian airport in the River Valley.
