ONE Gas subsidiary Kansas Gas Service goes before Kansas regulators with rate hike request

The Kansas Corporation Commission will have a public hearing about a Kansas Gas Service base rate increase at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Washburn Institute of Technology, Main Conference Center, Building A, 5724 S.W. Huntoon St. in Topeka.

While Oklahoma Natural Gas recently went before the Oklahoma Corporation Commisson with a nearly $32 million rate revenue increase, a sister company, Kansas Gas Service is before the Kansas Corporation Commission on Thursday.

Both are among the subsidiaries of ONE Gas and in the case of Kansas Gas Service, it is before the KCC requesting a $93.1 million increase. The request includes $58.1million for increased base rates and $35 million approved through a reliability surcharge.

Under the Kansas Gas Service request, residential ratepayers who reduced their monthly use of gas would see an increase of $6.71 or 10.41%. Customers who used more would see an increase of $9.48 or 8.25% on their average bill.
