The nation’s oil and gas industry is likely to support whoever House Republicans might choose in the coming week to be the replacement for ousted Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
That’s what E&E News reports, stating that whoever succeeds McCarthy, will “almost certainly be a friend of fossil fuel interests and a likely skeptic of the fight against climate change.”
If it’s Oklahoma Congressman Kevin Hern, a Republican who has been exploring his chances, then it’s obvious because Oklahoma is a strong oil and gas state.
How about Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.), who said he will seek the position. Obviously, his homestate is a large oil producer.
Environmentalists won’t be happy with any choice if they are a strong supporter of oil and gas.
