Just as we reported how Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana leaders awaited an announcement about the government’s $7 billion in funding for proposed hydrogen hubs, a report indicated the President might reveal the choices this week.
Bloomberg indicated the announcement might come on Friday when President Biden is scheduled to travel to Pennsylvania where the state has proposed an Appalachian hydrogen hub. The project would be in partnership with West Virginia and Ohio.
In Oklahoma’s case, the state is partnering with Arkansas and Louisiana to create the HALO hub. The government announced the intended funding last fall and asked for proposals. The Energy Department originally indicated the choices for the handful of hubs to be funded would be revealed sometime this fall.
In January, the government urged 33 projects to submit full applications after it had received 79 proposals The final choice for funding could be narrowed down to six and 10.
