The heat wave that has grasped the Southwest and the Midwest this summer finally prompted the Electric Reliability Council of Texas to urge residents to conserve electricity as they attempt to keep cool.
ERCOT, the firm that operates the grid for more than 26 million customers on Thursday said it expects a “reserve capacity shortage with no market solution available.”
Cranking up air conditioners is consuming more and more electricity.
