Kansas nuclear power plant temporarily shut down by storm damage

A stormy weekend in eastern Kansas resulted in a temporary shutdown of the Wolf Creek Nuclear Generating Station because strong winds knocked out several spans of a transmission line to Wichita.

Evergy reported four to five spans on the 345-kilowatt transmission were knocked down by the strong winds during the Friday afternoon storm. The lines stretch from Wichita to the Wolf Creek plant, located in Burlington, Kansas, about 100 miles southwest of Kansas City reported KSHB TV.
