Those nagging worries about interest rates and whether they might climb again sent crude oil prices falling 2% in Tuesday’s trading while Oklahoma energy stocks, for the most part, recorded moderate gains.
West Texas Intermediate crude, the U.S. benchmark, fell $1.67 or 2.4% per barrel before finishing the day at $67.70 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude finished down $1.92 or 2.6% at $72.26 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Natural gas dropped 1% on a 3-cent slide before settling at $2.76.
Only weak to moderate gains were recorded by Oklahoma energy stocks with two exceptions—Empire Petroleum finished down more than 8% and Mammoth Energy fell nearly 5%.
