Oklahoma U.S. Sens. James Lankford and Markwayne Mullin made their votes count as the U.S. Senate voted recently to overturn a Biden administration rule to protect the lesser prairie-chicken in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and New Mexico.

The vote was 50-48 and West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin joined Lankford, Mullin and other Republican Senators in standing up to the government’s controversial decision.

Next up—the House.

“Oklahomans have diligently worked to conserve the lesser prairie-chicken and its habitat so we could preserve the species and avoid its listing under the Endangered Species Act,” said Oklahoma Republican Sen. James Lankford.
