Evergy recorded ‘strong’ first quarter but still wants to raise rates in Kansas

Evergy CEO David Campbell touted financial results and the clean energy transition during a Tuesday call with investors.

Even as Evergy, the largest utility in Kansas, reported another strong quarter of financial results, it is seeking a rate increase to be borne by its customers.

Executives revealed in their conference call that they were surprised how earnings for investors grew more than predicted. Still, the utility wants to increase electrical bills about 10% for eastern Kansas customers reported the Topeka Capital-Journal.
