Enverus shows a slide in national oil and gas rig activity

The most recent Enverus rig count echoed a Baker Hughes Co. report showing a decline in rig activity in Oklahoma and across the nation.

The U.S. rig count had its high point at 812 during the week ended April 26, falling by three rigs from the previous week’s peak, according to Enverus Foundations data.

The count is down 3%, or 26 rigs, in the last month and up 3% YOY. All numbers discussed are weekly peaks to avoid the sometimes wide variability of daily numbers.

Two major plays experienced decreases, with the Anadarko Basin dropping six rigs to hit 67 and Williston Basin activity falling by two rigs to 39.

The Gulf Coast and Permian each added one rig to reach 95 and 348, respectively. The DJ Basin added two rigs to reach 20, and the Appalachian Basin was flat with 54 rigs running.
