Crude oil prices on Thursday made only slight gains for the day but for the third week in a row, they recorded gains. Oklahoma energy stocks had losses in the day’s trading.
Markets didn’t express a lot of optimism and analysts continued to worry about more OPEC+ production cuts and falling U.S. oil inventories.
West Texas Intermediate crude closed 9 cents higher for a .01% gain to $80.70 on the New York Mercantile Exchange. No trading of U.S. crude will take place because of the Good Friday holiday.
Global benchmark Brent crude rose 13 cents for a gain of 0.2% to $85.12 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Analysts noted that both benchmarks had more than 6% gains this week following the announcement by OPEC+ of its planned production cuts.
May natural gas fell 14 cents to $2.01 per 1,000 cubic feet.
The majority of Oklahoma energy stocks recorded losses for the day. The most was a 4% decline by PHX Minerals.
A lot of other energy stocks recorded losses on the day according to the Texas Energy Report.
