Crude oil prices managed a 2% gain on Friday and Oklahoma energy stocks saw 5% and 6% increases for the day after most energy firms posted positive earnings and crude output in the U.S. was declining while fuel demand grew.
West Texas Intermediate crude went up $2.02 a barrel or 2.7% to finish at $76.78 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent crude finished the last day of the front-month up $1.17 or 1.5% and settled at $79.54 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Natural Gas rose 6 cents or 2.34% to settle at $2.41.
Reuters reported that despite the daily gains, despite the daily gains, Brent and WTI both declined for a second week in a row, with Brent posting a fourth straight monthly decline as disappointing U.S. economic data and uncertainty over interest rates weighed on the demand outlook.
Most Oklahoma energy stocks had a strong rebound on Friday with Gulfport Energy seeing a 6% gain, and Ovintiv 5%. But Mammoth Energy also recorded a 5% loss.
