Four wells on a single Canadian County pad produced more than 5,200 barrels of oil a day

Another series of Ovintiv wells in Canadian County was reported this week by the company which has a history of big producing oil wells in Oklahoma’s STACK play. Four of the wells were on a single pad and produced more than 5,200 barrels of oil a day.

This time, Ovintiv drilled four Hufnagel wells at 4 13N 7W, a site about 5 miles north of El Reno. The Hufnagel 1407 3h-28xx, completed July 28, 2022, produced 1,326 barrels of oil and 2,113 Mcf of natural gas from a drilled depth of 21,972 feet in the Mississippian formation. The completion report showed a Jan. 29, 2022 spud date.

The second well, the Hufnagel 1407 5h-33x, completed in late July of last year had production of 1,576 barrels of oi land 2,360 Mcf of natural gas. Drilled depth in the Mississippian was 20,301 feet. It had a February spudding date according to the completion report.

The Hufnagel 1407 2h-28xx, drilled on the same pad produced 851 barrels of oil a day and 1,634 Mcf of natural gas. Drilled depth was 21,578 feet in the Woodford formation. The completion report showed a January 2022 spudding.

The last well on the same pad, the Hufnagel 1407 4h-28xx, produced 1,474 barrels of oil a day and 2,476 Mcf of natural gas from a depth of 21,530 feet in the Woodford. It was spudded in February 2022 according to the completion report.

Add it up. That’s 5,227 barrels of oil a day from the same pad. But—Ovintiv drilled a fifth well in an adjacent section of land. It was the Bohlman 1407 5h-343x drilled at 3 13N 7W, just east of the Hufnagel wells. Production was 726 barrels of oil a day and 1,147 Mcf of natural gas from a depth of 20,340 feet in the Mississippian formation. The well was spudded in March 2022.

Another STACK well was reported by Devon Energy Production Co. It was in Blaine County at 21 15N 10W or 8 miles southeast of Watonga. Production was 649 barrels of oil a day and 4,358 Mcf of natural gas. Drilled depth was 21,956 feet following a March 2022 spudding and completion in November of last year.
