Crude oi prices in the U.S. slipped in Monday’s trading while overseas, they went up 31 cents a barrel. Oklahoma energy stocks recorded ups and downs.
What happened? Investors who cashed in on a seven-week high retreated as news spread about a possible recovery of China’s demand for oil imports.
West Texas Intermediate crude dropped 2 cents to close at $81.62 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Earlier in the session, prices high a high of $82.64,the highest mark since early December.
Global benchmark Brent crude rose 56 cents and closed at $88.19 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe. Brent had hit a high of $89.09 earlier in the session, the highest amount since Dec. 1.
February natural gas rose 27 cents to $3.45 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Oklahoma energy stocks also were mixed on Monday with Mammoth Energy recording a nearly 5% loss while NGL Energy went up about 4%.
