Nebraska agency won’t face charges over misspending LIHEAP federal funds

It misspent more than $4 million in federal money meant for home weatherization, but the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services won’t face any charges.

The auditor’s office made the discovery which showed the state agency had been awarded $41,180,965 in Low Income Home Energy Assistance funds, better known as LIHEAP. The funding came through the American Rescue Plan and is similar to LIHEAP funds received by the state of Oklahoma.
