Keystone pipeline operator was warned in 2021 of growing corrosion in the line

A report suggests that the Keystone Pipeline operator had been warned last year about the growing weakness of the line, well before its recent 14,000 barrel oil leak in northern Kansas.

This is the same line that extends to the Cushing hub in northern Oklahoma and eventually carries crude oil to the Gulf Coast refineries.

While cleanup of the massive leak is still underway near Washington, Kansas, a report by Natural Gas Intelligence indicated TC Energy, owner of the Keystone line, was warned by a 2021 Government Accountability Office report that corrosion was causing an increasing number of leaks on the Keystone Pipeline.
