The approaching major winter storm sent crude oil prices up in Tuesday’s trading and Oklahoma energy stocks rebounded.
The Siberian front sparked concerns that millions of Americans won’t be able to travel during the Christmas season.
West Texas Intermediate crude rose 90 cents to close at $76.09 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude rose 19 cents or 0.2% to finish at $79.99 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
January natural gas fell 52 cents to $5.33 per 1,000 cubic feet.
With a few exceptions, most Oklahoma energy stocks recorded gains in Tuesday’s trading including an 8% jump for Empire Petroleum Corp., and a 6% increase for Mammoth Energy.
Other energy stocks also recorded gains for the day according to the Texas Energy Report.
