Friday saw the biggest weekly drop in crude oil prices in months, thanks to swelling recession fears and weak economic information from the U.S., Europe and China. The impact on Oklahoma energy stocks wasn’t good.
West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery dropped 44 cents or about 1% to $71.02 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for delivery in February slipped 15 cents or 1% and closed at $76.10 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Natural gas for January delivery went up 28 cents or more than 4% to $6.25 per 1,000 cubic feet.
A few Oklahoma energy stocks recorded gains in Friday’s trading but most endured losses including a 6% fall for Devon Energy Corp. and 3% tumbles for Helmerich & Payne, Magellan Midstream and Ovintiv Inc.
The Texas Energy Report covered other energy stocks.
