Some Oklahoma energy stocks recorded a more than 9% gain in Thursday’s trading as crude oil prices fell about 2% because of the fuel demand outlook and more interest rate hikes by global central banks.
Crude prices dropped after three straight days of gains. West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery dropped $1.17 or 1.5% to $76.11 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for February delivery fell $1.49 or 1.8% to close at $81.21 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
January natural gas rose 54 cents to $6.97 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Oklahoma energy stocks had a mixed response to the day, some up and some down. Among those who had a positive day were PHX Minerals with a 9.5% gain and Mammoth Energy up 4%. Empire Petroleum led the losers with a more than 8% loss.
Many other energy stocks recorded a negative day according to the Texas Energy Report.
