Court ruling stops $5 billion turnpike expansion in Oklahoma

As of noon Thursday, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority brought a halt to its work on developing the $5 billion ACCESS Oklahoma toll road expansion plan.

Vendors were notified by email that the Authority had not anticipated a Cleveland County District Judge’s ruling that turnpike officials had “willfully” violated Oklahoma’s Open Meeting Act.

Turnpike Authority Deputy Director Joe Echelle notified the vendors and indicated until “corrective action” is taken, work on the expansion project will be halted reported The Oklahoman.
