The state of Wyoming plans to use $25 million in federal money to begin plugging its estimated 1,500 abandoned wells.
The estimate of the orphaned wells that were drilled, abandoned and never plugged came from the Wyoming Oil and Gas Commission reported the Cowboy State Daily.
