Crude oil dropped nearly 2% in Friday’s trading, making for a second weekly decline.
What caused the drop? Again, weakened demand in China because of growing COVID-19 cases. Adding to it was the growing possibility of hikes in U.S. interest rates.
West Texas Intermediate crude for delivery in December dropped $1.56 a barrel or nearly 2% to settle at $80.08 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for January delivery fell $2.16 a barrel or more than 2% and finished the day at $87.62 on ICE Futures Europe.
