Big fine in New Mexico for big Permian Basin operator

Violation of roofing regulations lands Kansas man big fine

 

One of the largest oil and gas operators in the Permian Basin of West Texas and southeast New Mexico agreed recently to pay a $1.8 million fine to settle wastewater issues with New Mexico oil and gas regulators.

XTO Permian Operating’s fine is slightly more than $1 for every acre the company holds in the Basin. The fine dealt with state violation notices at four wastewater injection wells according to the Associated Press.
