Enverus reports slight decline in US rig numbers

This week’s Enverus Foundations rig report showed a decline from a week ago, leaving 821 active rigs running across the U.S.

The weekly count declined by three from a week ago but the national numbers are still 1% higher over the past month and up 55% from a year ago.

In the last week, the count reached as high as 828 rigs, which is four higher than the prior week’s peak and the highest the count has been since the first days of 2020.

The report indicated a decline in rig activity in the Anadarko Basin that includes western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle.

On June 22, the Gulf Coast hit a new 2022 high at 116 active rigs. There haven’t been this many rigs running in the region since August 2019. The play has added 35 rigs since the beginning of the year, which on June 22 was just one less than the combined YTD addition of 36 for the Midland and Delaware basins.
