China’s continued coronavirus lockdowns and worries about the demand outlook sent crude prices tumbling nearly 6% on Monday. Oklahoma energy stocks felt the blow too.
West Texas Intermediate crude dropped 6.1% or $6.68 to settle at $103.09 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude fell 5.7% or $6.45 to finish at $105.94 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
The drop in crude prices carried over to Oklahoma energy stocks as most experienced significant losses for the day including Empire Petroleum with a nearly 21% drop, Continental Resources at 11% and Laredo Petroleum at 14%.
